How can we help?
Answers about Unfolding, your account, and your privacy.
Getting Started
What is Unfolding?
Unfolding is a new kind of wellbeing support for people navigating identity, loss, and belonging across a lifetime.
Who is Unfolding for?
Unfolding was built by an adoptee, for adoptees, donor-conceived people, and those experiencing biological unknowns — and their village. The village includes family, friends, co-workers, and therapeutic providers.
What’s included in the app?
Free to everyone is a Daily Flow, which includes a card message, an Unfold journal prompt, and a grounding exercise to connect mind and body.
Community Flows feature real people with lived experience sharing their insights in five-day flow formats that include a video, a card message, and an Unfold journal prompt.
Where can I download Unfolding?
Unfolding is available on the App Store and Google Play.
Membership & Pricing
Is Unfolding free?
The Daily Flow (Daily Message, Breathe, and Journal) is free. Community Flows are part of a paid subscription, available for $11.99 a month or $69.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed through the app store, so you cancel there:
Privacy & Trust
Is my journal private?
Your entries are yours, and they’re encrypted end to end. You can read our full Privacy Policy for details.
Is Unfolding a replacement for therapy?
No. Unfolding is a daily wellbeing practice, not a clinical service. It can be a meaningful companion alongside therapy or other support. If you’re in crisis, please contact 988 (call or text) in the US, or your local emergency services.
Your Account
How do I delete my Unfolding account?
Your account is yours to close whenever you want. Here’s how to do it, and exactly what happens when you do.
Delete from inside the app
Open Unfolding and go to My Profile → Delete Account → Delete My Account. You’ll be asked to confirm once. After that, your account is removed right away.
Delete if you no longer have the app
Email us at privacy@unfolding-app.com from the address you used to sign up, and ask us to delete your account. We’ll take care of it within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
If you can’t write from that address, tell us the email you signed up with and we’ll follow up to confirm it’s you before deleting anything.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes:
- Your login and profile details
- Every Unfold entry you’ve written
- Your saved favorites
- Your streak and daily activity history
This is permanent. Your entries are deleted outright, not archived, and we can’t restore them afterward, not even if you ask us the next day. If you want to keep anything you’ve written, save it before you delete.
What we keep
If you ever paid for a subscription, records of those transactions are held by Apple, Google, and our payment processor. We keep the minimum required for tax and accounting purposes. Those records contain billing information, not your entries.
Cancel your subscription separately
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Subscriptions are billed by the app store, so you need to cancel there as well:
We recommend canceling first, then deleting, so you’re not billed again.
Questions
You can also read our full Privacy Policy for how we handle your information while your account is open.
